With the rapid development of China's economy, catering industry booms simultaneously in China. According to statistics, from 1991 to 2010; catering industry maintained double-digit growth for its business line of income annually. However, catering enterprise information management is low-leveled. Traditional manual management mode generates the following problems:manual management of cash results in financially unsafe; stock management depends on the counter clerk lacking diversified consumption management and operation cost management leading to a high operation cost for the enterprise; this management also cannot analyze the consuming behavior of the customers', hence, it is hard to find out the improvement keys for the enterprise. With the continuous development of China's catering industry and the innovation of the modern technology as well as the improvement of information technology, the traditional manual management cannot adapt to the quick development of the modern society. Therefore, scientific management is sure to take the place of the manual management eventually. Scientific management demands us to study and master the management characteristics and new ideas. Catering enterprises must have quality management patterns to solve all the problems by analyzing the operation loopholes to make catering enterprises be competitive both domestically and internationally.Based on the characteristics of the users in catering industry, this thesis sets the system pattern to use C/S structure development followed by the analysis designing of engineering methods as a guide. The program adapts POWER DESIGNER to analyze the business procedures and system function and code-building. Based on the above analysis combining the data base related theory as well as catering industry demanding situation, this program designs the structure by its concept and physics. And post development and test was carried out for the designing. The final part sums up and prospects the implement of the program.This thesis analyzes some domestic catering industry function combining the detailed demanding of the enterprises. It analyzes systematically the catering industry information and formulated the master goal of catering business. Thus, a complement and designing of catering enterprise information management comes into being. This thesis sorts out the unification and extension rules of the catering industry by doing some research to the designing regulations and the implement methods of the information management system. It also puts forward the master systematic designing as well as the main module function detailed designing which covers the main business information management in catering industry. The system contains the main catering industry information management needs including automatic order-taking,account-settling,stock-managing,operation-analyzing. By analyzing each individual module function, it tells how to design to make it be effective and practical. This thesis also tells how to select the related technology to make the system be flexible and operational as well as functional.The use of catering industry information management system makes the detail jobs as order-taking,service-prompting and item-adding be more easy-handled. It makes the service procedures more systematic. By using this automatic order-taking system, enterprises can get the feedback of the whole dish-serving situation to ensure the prompt catering service procedure. The master goal of high-effective and high-quality information management business is carried out eventually.
