Classical Chinese is the richest carrier of profound and diversified Chinese culture.Classical Chinese teaching has drawn wide attention in the new curriculum reform due to its rich connotation. The aim of classical Chinese teaching in middle school lies in translating students'cultural connotation in spoken and written languages into the basic cultural quality. At present,the most study of classical Chinese is focused on the teaching. In contrast, it is very few for the study on preparing in the textbooks.In my opinion,only by the combination of textbook study and teaching strategy, there could be a breakthrough in the teaching of classical Chinese. Against the background of the second-stage curriculum reform, we should clearly recognize the requirements for the classical Chinese teaching, systematically analyze the textbooks of classical Chinese,actively explore teaching method about classical Chinese teaching while at the same time summarizing the previous teaching experience,and devote ourselves to the formation and development of students'literary quality.By using the method of literature studies,this thesis first analyzes the requirements for classical Chinese teaching in course standards centering on major goals,phase targets and the quantity required.Meanwhile, based on classical Chinese works in the textbooks,the setting situation for the present classical Chinese textbooks is also analyzed from two aspects, namely the characters of the texts selected and the characters of structures. Studies show that the level of difficulty of texts in the textbooks is appropriate;the arrangement tallies with the cognitive psychology of students basically, therefore offering the widest scope for classical Chinese teaching.Second, by means of method of statistical investigation, the real situation of classical Chinese teaching in junior middle schools is investigated. Initial investigation shows that deficiency of quantity of reading leads to the students'absence for classical Chinese in direct perception although they are not very interest in the study of classical Chinese.Furthermore,it is not optimistic about the situation of the reading for classical Chinese.For teachers,they do not have good teaching method as a result of going in for the exams, consequently resulting in the insufficient in the development and utilization of teaching resources.At the same time, according to own teaching experience, this paper gives an account and analysis of the investigation into the present teaching situation from two aspects:the self-assertive element of classical Chinese and the element of teaching materials.Then using comparative analytic approach,this thesis introduces "the eight manipulations of classical Chinese" coming from the teacher Yuan Lu and method of orally reading under guidance for Chinese from the teacher Menglong Qian, as well as their applications in the teaching of classical Chinese.Drawing inspiration form their experience in classical Chinese teaching, three enlightenments are obtained:the first is classical Chinese teaching should have paid more attention to the cultivating of the students' ability in learning;the second is classical Chinese teaching should inspire the students'interests of learning;the third is classical Chinese teaching should be targeted at Chinese for further training.Finally, using the method of action research, two proposals are put forward based on the personal exploration and practice during the teaching of classical Chinese.
