Objective: To evaluate the periodontitis and tooth lost condition of patients with Diabetes Mellitus(DM) and Coronary heart disease(CHD) over 45 years old. to Provide evidence for improving the oral health condition of aged population. Methods: 274 cases of Diabetes Mellitus ,238 cases of Coronary heart disease and 105 cases of diabetes Mellitus combined with Coronary heart disease in the first affiliated hospital of Xinjiang Medical University in recent four months , were examined for oral health status, periodontitis , tooth lost condition ,The were compared with that of the control group which contain 285 cases without similar systemic disease. All data were analyzed byχ2-test and multi-factors logistic regression analysis. Results: Higher rate of periodontitis and tooth lost condition were found in the patients with Diabetes mellitus, Coronary heart disease and Diabetes Mellitus combined with Coronary heart disease compared with that of control group ,with significant differences(P<0.008), while no significant differences were found among three experimont groups;Higher rate of periodontitis was significantly differenced in DM patients with higher- fasting plasma glucose(FPG≥7.0mmol/l) group while higher rate of tooth lost was signify- cantly found in DM patient with FPG≥9.0mmol/l group; Higher rate of periodontitis and tooth lost condition were found in the aged group over 60 year old ,with significant differences (P<0.05);The periodontitis was the main reason for tooth lost in DM patients, CHD patients and DM combined with CHD patients, while the dental caries was the main cause of tooth lost for the control group(P<0.05), No statistical evidence of etiological difference was found three experiment groups; The aged group had more restorations than the before aged group; Smoking (OR=4.311), Age(OR=1.818), Coronary heart disease (OR=1.779), history of Coronary heart disease (OR=1.401), history of smoking (OR=1.369), Diabetes mellitus (OR=1.327), history of diabetes mellitus (OR=1.285) tooth brush time (OR=0.798), gender (OR=0.588), were the correlation factor of periodontitis according to multi-factors logistic regression analysis. Conclusion: The oral health status of this population is far from satisfactory. oral health care should be strengthened and more dental services should be performed in DM and CHD patients and elder population .
