Objective:To observe the clinical effect of deeply acupuncturing the "Dachangshu" and "Guanyuanshu" points to Lumbar intervertebral disk protrusion(LIDP), and the influence caused by different needling sensations, making clear which method is more fit for LIDP. The research will provide clinical reference for needling sensation along the meridians to treat diseases.Methods:50 LIDP patients, coincident with standards, were assigned to two groups, which had 25 cases each. We just deeply acupunctured "Dachangshu" and "Guanyuanshu" points to get the local needling sensation in one group, and get the numb-electric needling sensation travelling away to leg or foot in another. We treated every patient 12 times as a course, once a day. The effect was evaluated by "diagnostic efficacy standards for diseases in Traditional Chinese Medicine" of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The pain degree was assessed by VAS scores. Results:It shows that the total effect rates of the two groups are 95.8% and 95.2%, and there is no significant difference between them (P>0.05). As one group each, there is significant difference according to the VAS scores from the beginning to the end of the treatment course (P<0.05). There is significant difference of the VAS scores in 3 or 6 days (P<0.05), and no difference in 1 course (P>0.05). The two cured patients share the same cure days (P>0.05).Conclusion:The two groups share the same clinical effect, and the group with the travelling needling sensation affects more rapidly in analgesic action, which provide a clinical basis for the theory of the travelling needling sensation.
