objective To study on the relationship between the levels of IL-17 and MMP-1 in the synovial fluid of patients with knee osteoarthritis(KOA) and the lesions of osteoarthritis, and the relativity of the two levels in the synovial fluid, approaching the effect of IL-17 and MMP-1 in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis. Methods Take the synovial fluids from 30 KOA patients with mild disease (KOA first group), 30 KOA patients with serious disease ( KOA second group) and 12 control group, and measure the contents of IL-17 and MMP-1in the synovial fluid by sandwich ELISA method. Results By ELISA method, the contents of IL-17in the synovial fluid of control group was 18.50±10.19pg/ml,MMP-1 was 34.17±25.58ng/ml.In OA group, the contents of IL-17was 133.90±98.48 pg/ml,MMP-1was 290.57±171.03ng/ml. Significant difference of IL-17and MMP-1 was found between OA group and control group(P<0.05).The contents of IL-17and MMP-1 in OA group were found much higher than control group. Correlation relationship was found among IL-17and MMP-1 in synovial fluid.Significant relationships were found between IL-17or MMP-1 and OA types. Conclusion IL-17 and MMP-1 play important pathological roles in the pathogenesis of knee osteoarthritis. IL-17 and MMP-1 have high level in patients with osteoarthritis and synovial fluid, and relative to the pathogenesis degree of osteoarthritis. Their level in the synovial fluid has relativity. Therefore, measure jointly the contents of IL-17 and MMP-1 in the KOA synovial fluid can help to determine the disease. |
