As the development of advanced production,the multi-specification small batch manufacturing becomes more and more popular. The paper summarizes characteristic of the production,analyzes the methods and techniques applied in the production mode. Although there is a large need to implement the quality control on such kind of productior the characteristic of small volume production is that there is no enough data,it Is difficult to use traditional statistical process control (SPC) to such cases. This paper presents a new effective approach for estimating the process parameters in such environment. Emphasized machine processes,based on similarity theory and group technology (GT). similar processes were grouped into a family. Using historical data from the family,statistic samples were amplified. The approach not only is effective in quality control of the process out,but also convenience and simple.The paper analyses the methodology involved the determination of process code number,family formation,retrieving data,and estimating process parameters. A structure of a C&C system for SPC has been suggested. After the historical data and current data were got,the data were converted by two time and became the values obeyed the same distribution. Based the value,the quality characteristic of different group processes can be expressed in the same control chart,the tendency of the current quality of the process may be predicted. At last,a case indicates that the approach is some piratical valuable.
