Tea was transplanted from India to the vicinity of Canton. At the beginning, Tea was used as a medicine. In Han Dynasty, it has been widely used as a kind of drink. In Tang Dynasty, LuYu, who had travelled many countries, wrote a classic work about tea----Cha Jing. Around the year 800, tea was transplanted from China to Japan by the Japanese monks who studied in China. In AnTuTaoShan age of Japan , WuYeshaoou and QianLixiu enriched the form system of tea. During the Edo Period, it had a name-- tea ceremony. A Book of Tea, written in English by GangCangtianxin, is one of the representative books which told the world that tea ceremony was representative of Japanese culture. Nan Fang Lu written by QianLixiu has a strong influence on tea ceremony. By studying Nan Fang Lu, the thesis is to know the great significance that tea ceremony was influenced by idea of yin-yang and five dements, and then have a further understanding on tea ceremony. Furthermore, the knowledge on tea ceremony is helpful for the further information on the ideological root of Japanese.The framework of the thesis follows:The first part is the introduction of the purpose of the research. The second part (chapter1,2,3,4,5)is the main part of the thesis. Chapter one and chapter two is about the introduction and relative studies on Nan Fang Lu. Chapter three is about the spirit of tea ceremony looking from the angle of Nan Fang Lu. Chapter four and chapter five is about the method and the properties of tea ceremony. The third part is the conclusion. By studying Nan Fang Lu, the conclusion is tea ceremony was influenced greatly by idea of yin-yang and five dements.
