After introduction of the concept and significance of the division of marine functional zonation, an analysis of the development and change in four aspects including zone-dividing principle, status of law, hierarchy and classification system is put forth; then, the paper points out that the methodology of division of marine functional zonation must be modified to solve new problems and suit new conditions.The second part is about research about the division of marine functional zonation methodology.
