With the further reform of mathematical education, mathematical modeling, as a new lesson, has become a focus more and more. Mathematical contest in modeling to college students is proceeding very popularly. This paper is based on this background. In this paper we study the history and the actuality of the mathematical modeling. Then we discuss the difference between mathematical modeling and other notions, expound the relationship between the mathematical modeling lesson and tradition mathematical lesson, and analyze the necessity and feasibility of mathematical modeling lesson in normal university. By doing this we intend to explicit the intent of mathematical modeling lesson in normal university. In this paper we pose a questionnaire on the students and teachers who has taken part in the mathematical contest in modeling to college students. Then we discuss with them. Furthermore the article shows several problems in the lesson on mathematical modeling. The author also pose some suggestion in order to improve the instruction. |
