As an important form in national economy of each country, family business enterprise plays an important role. Family business has a great contribution to GDP, especially in China. With the increasing influence of family business, people focus on its problems, especially the problems of successor's selection and training. In this paper, on the basis of literature research, case study and comparative study, I carry out the research of successor's selection and training of East and the West family businesses, providing the theoretical and practical reference for domestic family business.The text focuses on the comparison of successor's source in China, Japan and United States and analyzes each country's culture, to study the cultural factors behind the source of the successors. To study whether there is plan and model of selection in China, Japan and United States; to study the successor plan and the selection system in the East and West; to provide suggestions on successor selection and training of domestic family business.The studies indicated that the source of successors has broken through the blood relationship in Japan and United States. On the basis of capacity, they select successors and have a sophisticated selection system and training system. In this paper, the innovation lies in the comparative study on family businesses between the East and the West. Realizing the different traditions of family business in the East and the West, the paper provides theoretical and practical reference for successfully passing down domestic family business.
