Fan Xu-dong, the Republic of China's national outstanding entrepreneurs chemical industry pioneers and founders, was called by people currently as"chemical king". In 1914, he began to invest in modern chemical business, and because of illness, he died in 1945 . Fan Xu-dong's management strategies include focusing on innovation, the development of accurate market positioning strategy, flexible competition strategy by enterprise cooperation and capital operation strategy of widely financing and accumulation focusing.. In the internal management of enterprises, he realized that"Be the person of leader, don't emphasize a luck to use your head, promote overall situation, but make use of hand and foot, deal with daily public affairs, the effect will not raise necessarily, and you must take notice of using a person in toil and using a matter in leisure".So he attached importance to be talent selection and management, and pay attention to people-centered, give full play to the creative talents and positive in practice. He was open-minded enough to absorb the idea of"scientific management"believed by the current enterprises in the West and establish the department organization and management system and focus on financial management, bettering up the control of organization.Above all, he first instituted an eight-hour working day in his enterprise and improved the enterprise benefits.There is not much systematical study on the operation and management ideas and characteristics of Fan Xu-dong's enterprises in the historical community. This thesis describes the major contents involved in the ideas from the two aspects of management strategies and inherent control of the enterprises, and further analyzes the characteristics, in a hope that the crude remarks may draw forth by abler people and give enlightenment to the modern entrepreneurs.This thesis discusses the operation and management characteristics of Fan Xu-dong's enterprises from four aspects including the explorative spirit of entrepreneur, the personnel management concept of"people- oriented", placing emphasis on research-oriented business philosophy and the spirit of the construction enterprise management ideas. These factors altogether helped with the success of Fan's business. In the current situation, the successful experiences of Fan Xu-dong's enterprise is very beneficial for China's economic construction to learn from.
