Spirit Culture's Impetus Effect On Science Development

The reciprocal effect between science and culture is the hot issue in the research of scientific and technological philosophy and culture studies. But for ages, most scholars only focused on the history of science and technology, or the history of culture. Through rational analyzing the history of science development, this thesis investigates spirit culture's impetus effect on science development and tries to express some basic ideas and personal conclusions of its value.Science development is a course of the culture, whose form is scientific culture. There are two impetuses in scientific culture, the culture impetus on science and the science impetus on culture, and they interact on each other. The culture impetus on science is composed of material, institution and spirit culture impetus. Material culture impetus has the vehicle and foundation effect on science development, and institution culture impetus ensures and restricts it; moreover, spirit one affects it by choices and leading. Among these three culture impetuses, spirit one is not only the core, but also the manifestation of material and institution ones.The spirit culture impetus on science development is composed of spirit of science, value trend and specific conformation. Among them, spirit of science is the core and stimulates science creations and combines science community; value trend is the driving force, which leads science development by three steps—value object, value concept and value trend; moreover, specific conformation is the foundation, among which innovation culture and scientific development stratagem culture are important ones. The spirit culture impetus on science development is affected by the inner and outer mechanism (the relations among spirit culture, institution culture and material culture and the interaction between science and culture).In the end, through investigating the mistakes that people have made on the culture impetus on science development, this thesis analyses and raises some countermeasures in accordance with people's cognitive mistakes of the spirit of science, science humanistic value and innovation culture.
