Since 2004, a typical phenomenon, namely shortage of rural labors, appears sequentially in coastal areas of China, especially in Pearl River delta. Almost 80% enterprises in Pearl River delta find the difficulty in employing rural labors. Under the backdrop that china is abundant with low-priced rural labors in countryside, which is out of all proportion to the vacancies in urban area, the occurrence of rural labors shortage in large scale engenders our contemplation and concerns.This thesis arises from shortage of rural labors in Pearl River delta and reveals that shortage of rural labors in essence is a phenomenon of system which is peculiar to China by theoretical analysis. Shortage of rural labors, on one hand, raises us to ponder over mechanism of population mobility, on the other hand, results in the rise of labor cost which, together with the difference of manufacture salary generate the stress on manufactures in Pearl River delta to transfer to other areas. Under the background of cooperation program in pan Pearl River delta, this thesis probes into the correlation of population mobility, salary difference and industry transfer from an empirical perspective.This thesis comprises 5 chapters. After the introduction, chapter I analyses the relevant theory foundations and status quo of research both in overseas and in domestically and puts forward issues to be concerned based on commentaries. Chapter II expounds the reasons why shortage of rural labors occurs in context of dual economy structures and dual labor force market. The following chapter analyses the population mobility, gap between the urban and rural areas and difference in manufacturing salary in pan Pearl River delta, and further the three's correlation from an empirical perspective. Chapter IV probes into the specific transfer paths and industry of Pearl River delta's manufactures in accordance with the difference of manufacturing salary and the contribution rate of total capital. The last chapter proposes policy advices based on summary of the whole thesis.
