The Research On The Relationship Between Industrial Innovation And Energy Intensity

With the fast development of the Zhejiang economy, Zhejiang province is facingthe shortage of energy which is getting worse day by day, which means that the patternof economy development in Zhejiang with the characteristics of high-input,high-consumption, high-pollution and high-input is not the healthy way for zhejiangsustainable development. To guarantee the further healthy development of Zhejiangeconomy, we should depend on industrial innovation to improve efficiency of energyusage in the industry, meanwhile reconstruct the industry. Only this way can wechange the development pattern in Zhejiang and solve enery problem.Zhejiang government sets an aim that during "Eleventh Five-Year" period, theintensity of energy consumption in Zhejiang should get down to eighty-five percent ofthat at the end of "Tenth Five-Year" period. Just in this context, this paper exploresthe possibility of achieving this aim by industrial innovation. Firstly, this paperanalyzes the relationship between industrial innovation and energy consumption;Then based on the research made by domestic and oversea experts concerning thedefinitions of industrial innovation, this paper brings up a new definition whichconsider it as a series of innovations, including technological innovation, productinnovation, marketing innovation and so on. With such a series of innovations, we can both improve the energy efficiency and restructure the industry in Zhjiang; Secondly,we analyze the present situation of energy consumption and industry structure inZhjiang and make it compare with the situation in some advanced areas and countries,from which we can conclude there is a great potential for Zhejiang province toachieve the aim; Thirdly, this paper probes into the relationship between industrialinnovation and energy consumption intensity through qualitative and quantitativeinvestigation, and confirms that industrial irmovation has the remarkable influence onenergy consumption intensity. Finally, on the foundation of researches above, wepropose the measurements on how to decrease intensity of energy consumption inZhejiang by industrial innovation.
