This paper analyzed the spatial-temporal changes of ecosystem services value (ESV) based on the data of land-use from 1998 to 2005 in Jishou City, Hunan Province. The results were summarized as follows. First of all, the areas of forest land, grass plot, garden land, industrial and mineral land, residential area and traffic land had increased, while those of farmland, water region and unutilized land had decreased from 1998 to 2005 in the area. Of which, the area of forest land had increased largest, by 1501.49 hm2, and the area of farmland, had decreased most by 1542.41 hm2. The second, the total ESV increased by 0.7974 billion RMB in Chinese dollars, and the rate of change was 3.83%; except the value of single ecosystem services function (ESVf) of food production decreased, while those of the others all increased. Thirdly, the unbalanced land using and ESVf existed in all towns of Jishou city. Lastly, by analysis of the relationship between the change of land use structure and the total ecosystem services value in Jishou city, It could be seen that optimizing of land use structure must be achieved by increasing ecosystem services value as the fundamental principle, and implement of land requisition-compensation balance, increasing the water area, and reducing the unutilized land。...
