Rapid development of the national economy has brought us into rapidly increasing energy demands. Because of the constantly expanding of total demand, supply and demand situation of electric power becomes particularly severe day by day. Since the hydropower and thermal power generation can no more full fill the society demands, nuclear power becomes particularly important currently. For large nuclear power plant construction, heavy hoisting is the part with high risks, and also the part with critical effect to the construction progress.In this paper, firstly, related risk management theories were reviwed and commented. The concept and characteristics of risk management, and the basic theory of heavy hoisting work for nuclear power plant were introduced. Also risk management is divided into four stages:risk identification, risk assessment, risk planning and risk monitoring. Based on these, research on risk management of heavy hoisting work for large nuclear power plant was proceeded; Last but not the least, an empirical research on heavy hoisting of Module CA20 for AP1000 nuclear power station was given.This paper aims to provide effective strategies and methods for the risk management of heavy hoisting work for large nuclear power plant.
