| Starting from the year 2006, Shanghai Educational Committee organized curriculum development groups consisting of senior teachers from vocational schools in Shanghai, experts in the relevant fields and specialists in curriculum development and set off a great upsurge in the development of task-based teaching mode. By September,2008, teaching criteria for 42 majors and relevant curriculum standards were organized to be drafted and came out in succession. How to verify the result of the research and development in this aspect has entered a critical stage of task-based teaching reform; and how to apply this teaching mode to teaching practice and activities has been a major problem that puzzles on-the-job teachers. The industries in Shanghai concern mainly tertiary industries and manufacturing, among which, international business, in particular, takes the leading position in Shanghai. As a result, Shanghai vocational school graduates from this major have ranked first for the past five years.Therefore, in this essay the author takes the major International Business as an example for the research and illustration concerning the design of task-based teaching processes, the establishment of hands-on practice environment, teaching evaluation, specific ways to improve teachers'ability in the application of this teaching mode.The whole essay is divided mainly into six chapters.The 1 st chapter is the introduction, which mainly concerns the research background and the meaning of the research, the aim of the research, the clarification of certain definitions, the content of the research and the research methods. In this part, the author also gives a summary of the research done previously. This part serves as the basis of the whole essay.The 2nd chapter is the design of task-based teaching process in International Business class. Through the analysis of the connotation, the designing principles, the designing processes, the author summarizes the basic requirements of task-based teaching mode. Combining the characteristics of International Business major, the author summarizes such core content as the design of teaching aims, the process of teaching content, the application of teaching resources, as well as the design of teaching activities. By following the application cases of this teaching mode among Shanghai vocational schools, the author puts forward some questions that need to be paid attention to. This part provides research basis for the real case illustrations in the later parts of the essay.The 3rd chapter is the application environment of task-based teaching, including the establishment of "hardware"—he function of hands-on practice and how to develop "soft-ware", i.e.the practice items. In the part—he function of hands-on practice, on the basis of analyzing the basic requirements of the establishment of hands-on practice environment, the author clearly states the main contents of the establishment of hands-on practice environment. In the section concerning the design of practice item, the author focuses on the designing methods after giving an analysis of the designing principles of such practice items. By looking up data and keeping track of specialized hands-on practice activities, the author raises questions to be concerned about in the application environment of the curriculum. This chapter provides research basis for the real case illustrations in the later parts of the essay.The 4th chapter concerns the evaluation application of task-based teaching among International Business majors in Shanghai Vocational Schools. After analyzing the basis of the evaluation of task-based teaching, the author summarizes the ways in learning to evaluate. By following the cases of task-based teaching among vocational schools in Shanghai, the author raises questions to be paid attention to in the evaluation process, which serves as the basis for the real case illustrations in the later parts of the essay.The 5th chapter is about the application ability of task-based teaching in vocational schools in Shanghai. On the basis of analyzing the teachers'capability in the application of task-based teaching,the author gives an analysis of ways and methods leading to the improvement of teachers'ability in this aspect. By investigating the current state of teachers involved in task-based teaching among vocational schools in Shanghai, the author puts forward questions that need our attention in the training of teachers'ability in task-based teaching.The 6th chapter is about the cases in the application of task-based teaching among vocational schools in Shanghai. On the basis of the research in the 2nd,3rd,4th and 5th chapters, the author provides examples of teaching design and evaluation, plans for the development of special hands-on practice and the design of hands-on practice items.
