The West Kunlun Mountain of Xinjiang, lying in the border zone of Xinjiang and Tibet, which is scored about 900 kms from north to south, 130-200 kms from east to west, the altitude of 1.5-5.0 kms. The region mainly refers to the north wing of West Kunlun Mountains, including the south of the mountains in Shache, Techeng, Pishan, Hotan, Qira,Yutian and Minfeng. The West Kunlun Mountain of Xinjiang borders upon the Middle Kunlun Mountain in the east, the Pamir in the northwest, the Karakoram in the southwest, the northern Tibetan Plateau in the south, the Tarim Basin in the north with the height of nearly 4000 meters. This research area is an extremely arid climate region, the general trend from west to east is gradually dry. Due to having the conditions of producing local precipitation, the North Wing mountain has a higher precipitation than the Piedmont Plain. The vegetation types in this area include snow-ice zone, alpine meadow, mountain steppe, desert steppe and desert belt. There are 17 families, 49 genera and 131 species of Sympetalae(except Compositae)plant in West Kunlun Mountain in Xinjiang, respectively accounting for 70.83% of families,26.63% of genera and 16.67% of species in such plants of Xinjiang.Among them, there are 11 new records of the West Kunlun Mountains in Xinjiang.Especially, 4 species is new records of Xinjiang, which is Comastoma pedunculatum(Royle ex D.Don) Holub, Lomatogonium gamosepalum(Burk.) H.Smith et S.Nilsson,Lomatogonium bellum(Hemsl.) H.Smith et S.Nilsson, Eritrichium medicarpum Lian et J.Q.Wang.There are 5 single-genera families, 8 few genera families and 4 middle families, respectively accounting for 29.41%, 47.06%, 23.53% of the total families of the Sympetalae(except Compositae) plant in this area. There are 1 single-specie family, 10 few specie family,4 middle specie family(Primulaceae 4/16, Scrophulariacea 6/16, Labiataea 7/14,Plantaginaceae 1/10) and 2 large families(Gentianaceae 6/24, Boraginaceae 6/21),respectively accounting for 5.88%、58.82%、23.54%、11.76% of the total families of the Sympetalae(except Compositae) plant in this area. There are 8 many species genera, 15 few species genera and 26 single-species genera, respectively accounting for 16.33%, 30.61%, 53.06% of the total genera of the Sympetalae(except Compositae) plant in this area. But many genera(Gentiana 10, Plantago 10,Eritrichium 9, Androsace 8, Lappula 7, Primula 6, Lomatogonium 6, Pedicularis 6) include62 species which account for 47.33% of the total species of the Sympetalae(except Compositae) plant in this area. In the area of Sympetalae(except Compositae) plant more concentrated in a few genera.Single-genera families(5 families), few genera families(8 families), single-speiesgenera(26 genera), few genera(15 genera) account for a higher propotion, so, the environment of the region is very bad, but Sympetalae(except Compositae) plants have a certain distribution, mostly concentrated in a small part of families or genera. There are no endemic and only distributed species in West Kunlun Mountains in Xinjiang, so the phenomenon is not obvious, only a few endemic species in Xinjiang. There are 6 types of life forms, which are mainly composed of perennial herbs(57.25%)and annual or biennial herbage(30.53%).The ecotype components could be divided into 9 types and 5 subtypes, including temperate element, Center Asia, Pantropic type, Palezoic Tethy Sea, East Asia and varity type,Endemic to China respectively accounting for 71.43%, 9.53%, 4.76%, 4.76%, 4.76%, 2.38%,2.38%. The composition of flora was mora complex, the temperate properties is obvious(71.43%), and north temperate contact closely. The West Kunlun Mountains in Xinjiang are closely linked in the Pamirs of China and the Karakorum Mountain. Similarity coefficient are 89.47%, 69.57%, 40.43% in families, genera and species with the Pamirs of China respectively. Similarity coefficient are 76.47%,47.37%, 30.98% in families, genera and species with the Pamirs of China respectively. The Sympetalous(except Compositae) plants of three areas are share close relationship.Because of the remote location and inconvenient transportation, the plant resources in the West Kunlun Mountains in Xinjiang are basically in the natural state.
