The river ecosystem, indispensable element to the survival and development of urban, is the foundation of the survival and reproduction for everything in the world and the link of land and sea, carrying freshwater supply and climate regulating and habitats providing. With the accelerating trend of urbanization, river ecosystem resources have been severely consumed, even none-recoverable. Consequences of environmental damage occurred frequently in recent years, such as floods, smog and landslides, while the issues have bearing on harnessing river are also increasingly received national attention. Biology and environment is a whole of river ecosystem, they are restricted and interplayed. Within the fixed time and space, biology and environment is keeping a dynamic balance. Through the evaluation results of biological integrity, the results can reflect the link between biology and the environment. This research took the Liaohe conservation area as the study area,17 positioning survey points were selected as long-term monitoring and to obtain the required data, research of Liaohe area following 3 aspects:(1) Determined the succession driving factors of vegetation community:the satellite films were manual interpreted by ARCGIS 10.2 software to get before and after the succession of vegetation distribution pictures. From the results of literature review and on-the-spot investigation, the driving factors were intended to be nature and social two aspects. Moreover, according to the results from principal component analysis and correlation analysis by SPSS 19.0 to confirm driving factors. The vegetation community succession of driving factors included nature and social two aspects, nature factors from moisture and heat, social factors from excessive reclamation and excessive landfill.(2) Biological integrity evaluation of Liaohe conservation area:we referred the literature retrieval, expert consultation and on-the-spot investigation to determine the biological integrity evaluation index. Subsequently, we screened the evaluating indicators by the standard deviation and mean value, confirmed the weight of the index by principal component analysis (PCA) and expert consultations to establish the evaluation index system. The evaluation results were as follows:the biological integrity evaluation findings overall performance as "good" or above, the evaluation of Fudedian, Tongjiangkou and Cainiu were "optimal"; Sanhexiala, Hadagaotie, Shuanganqiao, Fanhe, Shifosi, Mahushan, Manduhu, Hongmiaozi and Shuguangdaqiao were evaluated as "good"; Juliuhe, Yubaotai, Daniu and Dazhang were evaluated as "general", Panshanzha was evaluated as "bad".(3) Ecological function regionalization of Liaohe conservation area:by the clustering analysis results of biological integrity data which based on the three-level functional partition, the Liaohe conservation area could be divided into four functions, respectively general control area, ecological tourism zones, ecological function of wetland area and biological diversity conservation area. Subsequently, the four functions were divided into 19 ecological function district with different control measures, aimed to be in line with partitions, classification and management.
