Taiwan island was a continental island, it separated from mainland China by the Taiwan Strait, and its flora has a high degree of similarity with mainland China. But for all sorts of historical reasons,since 1945, botanists and biologists of the both sides share little reference with each other’s research, especially there is a serious lack of information exchange in the plant specimens. Many scientific findings in Taiwan region are difficult to refer to the mainlands’, so there are many synomyms and homonyms. All of these would be the obstruction in the research of both sides plant taxonomy, flora et. Therefore, revision based on different scientific names and Chinese names is particularly important for the academic exchange between Taiwan and mainland China.In this study, by reading a lot of literature, we checked the mode specimen, with the help with the Tropicos and The Plant List or other plant taxonomy platforms. We Compared the same plant information, such as scientific names and Chinese names among Flora of Taiwan(Second Edition), Flora Reipublicae Popularis Sinicae and Flora of China, and analyzed the patterns of synonymum and Chinese names synonyms. The main results are as follows:(1) By Comparing Flora of Taiwan (Second Edition), Flora Reipublicae Popularis Sinicae and Flora of China that scientific names in Taiwan and Mainland China, we found that there are numerous synonyms in scientific names in the ferns, gymnosperm, dicotyledon and monocotyledon. Among these groups in Taiwan, ferns(307) have the highest synonym ratefollowed by dicotyledon(781). The main driver for the the different taxonomy views are the main reason for the phenomenon of the scientific names’synonym, and the supplement noun spelled differently is the greatest cause of the spelling synonyms.(2) Using a different word homophones, using different words for the same plant taxa, combined or transferred as inner species taxa et. are the reasons for the phenomena in different Chinese names. Contrast the vascular plants Chinese names between Flora of Taiwan (Second Edition) and Flora Reipublicae Popularis Sinicae, found that:the total phenomena of different Chinese names is 2576, proportion to the number of Taiwan vascular plants is 56.95%, the synonym rate from high to low is dicotyledon>ferns>monocotyledon>gymnosperms, each synonym rate were 58.08%,57.67%,54.45% and 35.71%. So that, expect the gymnosperms, others had more than half species had the phenomena of different Chinese names.(3) Ferns’homonym phenomenon was maximum. Though comparing vascular plants’ synonym phenomenon among the Flora of Taiwan (Second Edition), Flora Reipublicae Popularis Sinicae and Flora of China, found that there were a part of plants were homonym:ferns’ homonym was 376, proportion to the number of Taiwan vascular plants is 29.73%, gymnosperms’ homonym was zero, dicotyledons’homonym was 28, proportion to the number of Taiwan vascular plants is 1.04%, monocotyledons’homonym was 13, proportion to the number of Taiwan vascular plants is 1.12%.(4) Contrast the Flora of Taiwan (Second Edition) with the Flora Reipublicae Popularis Sinicae, We found that there were 505 impeach species, among which ferns had 37 impeach species, accounting for 5.67% of total number of Taiwan ferns.Dicotyledons had 305 impeach species, accounting for 8.27% of total number of Taiwan dicotyledons; monocotyledons had 163 impeach species, accounting for 14.04 percent of total number of Taiwan monocotyledons. Contrast the Flora of Taiwan (Second Edition) with the Flora of China, found that there were 311 impeach species, which ferns had 37 impeach species, accounting for 5.67 percent of total number of Taiwan ferns; dicotyledons had 195 impeach species, accounting for 7.26 percent of total number of Taiwan dicotyledons; monocotyledons had 79 impeach species, accounting for 6.83 percent of total number of Taiwan monocotyledons.(5) The phenomenon of impeach species, the number of infraspecific taxa occupied a certain proportion. There were 2 species belong to infraspecific taxa in ferns, accounting for 5.41 percent of total number of Taiwan ferns. There were 87 species belong to infraspecific taxa in dicotyledons, accounting for 28.52 percent of total number of Taiwan dicotyledons. There were 47 species belong to infraspecific taxa in monocotyledons, accounting for 6.83 percent of total number of Taiwan monocotyledons.In this paper, We collected and analyzed the "A list for vascular plant synonyms between the mainland China and Taiwan", this would provide some references for the study of academic exchange about biodiversity, flora and plant protection which both sides of Taiwan Straits in future.
