GIS has been widely used in every aspect of modern production and life for its powerful function in storage, management, disposal and decision-making support of geographic information. It is playing a more and more important role in national economy. This thesis mainly researches on the GIS application in military field. It starts from the target country’s moving objects’flight path messages, makes further analysis of the messages and finally displays them in GIS, which provides direct geographic information for the decision-makers. Thus, it is of great value in intelligence.Based on basic theory of GIS, the thesis introduces systematic structure of GIS and three modes in its development, and puts special emphasis on the current mainstream components development methods-Components GIS and tool kit developed by GIS. The thesis makes a detailed introduction of the development platform it has chosen, the building of GIS development environment, and analyses the characteristics and functions of GIS. It describes in detail the general designs, operation process and interface to users of GIS, and explains thoroughly the concrete realization of every module. Finally, it discusses the shortage of system and direction for further sustainable research.The thesis makes a effective combination of GIS and messages on the basis of the application of Military Geographic Information System, realizes visualized analysis and disposal of messages and direct geographic description of flight path, which not only lays a solid foundation for disposal of messages but also has certain theoretical and practical value.
