In the development process of geographic information system (GIS), with the enrichmentof spatial data formats and the increasingly accumulated spatial data, it becomes particularlyimportant to integrate and manage heterogeneous spatial data. Therefore, studying theorganization and management of spatial data in spatial database or integration of spatial datais one of the important content in an area of GIS study, is a very meaningful and necessaryresearch work.In order to realize the overlay of spatial data stored in Oracle Spatial and heterogeneousspatial data (such as ArcGIS、MapInfo、AutoCAD), a practical way is using ArcGIS platform. This thesis selects the conversion from Oracle spatial to ArcGIS platform as the researchobject. The conversion methods can be split into two categories: direct conversion andindirect conversion. The direct conversion methods include sdo2shp tool and Query Layer inArcMap10. The indirect conversion method is simply by using ArcSDE for Oracle to registerthe table that has a spatial column. The table becomes the data of ArcGIS platform, it is calleda layer. This thesis introduces two layer register method: one is using “sdelayer–o registry”command to register layer, two is by the secondary development of ArcSDE API to register. At the last, the thesis proposes an optimal method for layer register, which is based onSQL language. Practices show that the new method is not only reliable and efficient but alsois a better way of the conversion from Oracle Spatial to ArcGIS platform in network formassive spatial data. Therefore it has high value in practice.
