Navigation spatial data is massive, multi-source and complex, and it brings much difficulty to share and inter-operation. But it can be efficiently stored and managed in spatial data base (SDB).While spatial database engine (SDE) is the core of SDB. Sharing and GIS developing might be easier by means of SDE, by its shielding these characteristics of spatial data. With the continuous development of our economy and society, people’s demand for geographic information also ever-increasing day by day. Then an excellent design and implementation of SDE has important theoretical and practical significance. This paper is based on spatial database engine. Firstly introduce the status quo on SDE. Concept, architecture, the principle and functions of SDE are described in detail. Then ArcSDE and Oracle Spatial were analyzed and compared. We delve into the logical and physical structure of the Oracle Spatial, including storage model of vector data, raster data, topology data, network data and spatial data indexing mechanism. Through the analysis of existing spatial data model, we designed a simple data model for spatial database storage and management of multi-source data, based on OGC. Detailed design of the physical structure of the spatial data. Then we carried out the detailed design of the physical store structure of the spatial data using Oracle Spatial.OCI package achieve mutual conversion between the vector data(eg:shp) with Oracle Spatial format, as well as efficient storage, query, delete, modify functions of spatial data. And demonstrate the various functions. In the end, this paper summed up the completed and the following work.
