With the development of national economic and the increase of gross national product (GNP), automobile industry and traffic transportation have been rapidly developing. And as the people's living standards constantly rising, the number of China's private vehicle was growing. These aspects have exerted greater pressure to our country's highways, railways transportation. Though the past two years the number of road accidents in China has been reduced, the number is still huge, which is more than a hundred thousand. Automobile accident is a major public hazard worldwide. According to the statistical data, the number of deaths due to road traffic is constantly increasing every year. Until now, the number of casualties in traffic accidents has exceeded in the war. Road traffic accidents have become a very serious global social problem. Computer simulation of traffic accidents at home and abroad have done a lot of work, including vehicle collision model's and dynamics model's establishments, analysis and optimizations, collision detection research and optimization, intelligent liability judgment for traffic accident etc. The types of traffic collisions are diverse, the collision environment is complex and changeable, and the models of collision vehicles are also various. Domestic's studies only on one aspect or specific vehicle collision situation, so it lacks of versatility and maneuverability. This article based on the lessons to build a high universality of the accident reconstruction simulation platform. How to build the overall framework of the accident reconstruction platform and the realization of simulation environment design are researched in the thesis. Based on the virtual simulation theory, using three-dimensional modeling software to build modeling vehicles, trees, street lamps and other roads devices to simulate the environment we need, achieving reading, displaying, controlling the three-dimensional models, dynamic construction of roads and the environment, as well as the three-dimensional animated simulation of vehicle by OpenGL. Based on the basic theory of automobile collision and OBB collision detection algorithm, vehicle collision model and energy and momentum conservation law are adopted for authentic and reliable simulation. Finally, the platform's overall construction, overall design and development process are represented, some functions of the platform are achieved and the application of the platform is briefly introduced.The platform which can dynamically draw on the road, dynamically load in the trees, street lamps and house on the simulation environment, easily update the database of simulation of vehicles basically achieves its functions and its purpose for general use.
