The coal industry is a very significant and fundamental industry to our nation's economy, and safety is one crucial issue for all coal mines. Due to the special work environment within coal mines and the high level of safety requirements, it has been the basis of coal mine safety to provide and process information rapidly, accurately and in a timely manner. Coal mine accidents have been happening frequently, which are great loss of national property and people's lives. The main reason of this is a lack of systematically dynamic monitoring, analyzing and real-time and efficient control mechanism for coal mining process and environment. The author of this article did an in-depth research in daily coal mining production and safety management, and focused on the safety management solution, methodology and drawbacks of major coal mines, hence designed and developed this coal mine safety management information systems. This system combines real-time monitoring, information input, information inquiring, information statistics, deploying a series of state-of-the-art technologies including Client/Server hierarchy, GPRS mobile network etc, therefore realizes the functionality of distributed parallel real-time monitoring, wireless data transmission, high level decision support, which raises the coal mine safety management up to a much higher level. The thesis starts with the background of the system development, social demand and the true meaning of realization, and then emphasizes on the design and implementation of the system. The designing section steps in with the objectives of the system, the designing methodology and system analysis, brings along the general design solution for the system, and provides a detailed description of functional design of the system and the design of the database, and then ends with the realization and test of the main system modules. In the end, the thesis points out the shortcoming of the system through the analysis of difficulties occurred during the system design process, and then set up the goals for future work.
