With the continuous development of the IC technology, the processing capability of smartcard is keeping enhancing, the storage space is becoming larger, so card can store more information. Therefore, it is necessary to add data management platform in the traditional smartcard platform. Thus, we can make use of resources of card to deal with different data flexibly and efficiently. Embedded file system becomes an essential component of COS.COS (chip operation system), is a special system but not a general system. Each COS is different according to the different application, but it must contain file system. The file system is widely applied in the Windows, in order to increase the compatibility of the smartcard and pc, we select the FAT file system as the file system of embedded platform.In this paper, we introduce the system structure of COS, study the Algorithm Design of FAT file system. Finally, in order to meet the demand of the test, we develop a pc/sc communication interface and achieved a TCL test platform. We test the file system with TCL script language integrality. We solve some hidden bug and the final performance meets the corresponding requirement.In the development, we use evaluation board which provided by SAMSUNG as hardware environment, Keil uVision V3.10 as software development environment, and use the VS2005 as the test platform development tool. Then we analyses the test result for further optimizer.In conclusion, I points out the merits and faults of the present design for helping maintain and upgrade of the work.
