Database migration is a method of system upgrade that it doesn't change the original database management system, the original system structure, the system data and the application system. Generally the system modification is the consideration to business or the holistic function. The whole process of migration is very enormous, including the migration of storage space, the migration of database data, the migration of code, the system test etc.The fundamental purpose of database migration is to solve the problem of system function and system performance. Therefore, in the first place we have to guarantee the correct logicality and equivalency for our migration project, and then tune up the system underway performance after migration. The two parts are important to the migration project. Therefore, as we will not change the original system logic truss, our test will focus on the comparison of original system and migration system. The comparison test can be divided into two parts, the correctness test and the performance test. The correctness test is to guarantee the migration system is strictly consistent with the original system on logic function. The same input only brings the same output. The performance test is to compare the performance between migration system and original system, in order to be improved.The paper starts from the background and the purpose of the subject study, introducing the fundamental knowledge of ORACLE database, including the project design and the point of implementation, combining the actual situation of our province saving system and subsystem, detailedly analyzing the concrete proposal of saving system and subsystem migration. The author is in charge of the project, according to the specific circumstance of our province, and repeatedly discussed with other members in the project group, completed the design proposal. Finally the proposal put into effect in our province successfully.The migration proposal of the paper accumulates some valuable experience for other database migration system of Gansu Postal. The new ideas of the paper reflect in using backup function of RMAN to backup old environmental data; the backup is recovered to new environment through the recovery function of RMAN.
