File Sharing System Based On Symbian Smartphone

With the development of electronic technology, cell phone has changed from a simple communication tool, which only provides text and voice service, to a platform that could process personal information. One of its functions is to act as a carrier for various files. Meantime along with the development of mobile communication technology, cell phone's ability of spread is being widely applied, which provides the conditions for becoming a new file sharing platform. File-sharing system is coming out under the circumstances. The purpose of the system is to design and realize a file-sharing system based on the smart phone on the Symbian platform. Smart phone could obtain and browse files according to the requirement and current state through downloading files via GPRS and distributing files through Bluetooth, then file sharing system is realized.Firstly, this paper introduced the background of this system based on research and analysis of development of mobile applications. Then it introduced Symbian operating system which is related theories. At this part the basic knowledge of Symbian development was highlighted, which is the foundation to realize the system. The third chapter described the overall design of the system, including the system architecture and corresponding modules, then various communication protocols of the system were described in detail. In the following part, realization of main functions, which include the realization of UI and how to play, download and distribute files, were described. After the implement of system was introduced, the paper mentioned system testing of functions and performance, and looked forward the next step of work.The significance of file-sharing system is to provide a new application combined with research and analysis on the status of mobile application and current technology. It could meet people's requirement of sharing files to a certain extent, also it could drive the emergence of new service strongly. Furthermore, the feasibility of this system will provide important references for mobile application and promote the development of mobile application in mobile and low-cost way.
