Current the disease of heart system is becoming the first killer to human health, and hadalready aroused a high degree of concern and attention. So, the early, timely and accuratediagnosis of cardiovascular disease has become an important research content. Heart soundssignal is one of the most primary physiological signals, including the physiology and thepathology information of heart each part and mutually affection between themselves. Theauscultation is one of the most important ways to examine the health state of heart. It isconvenient to analyze the heart sounds and extract the characteristic parameter for doctors toobtain basic information of heart and make more exact diagnosis.In this paper, the detection and processing technology of the heart sounds signal isapplied in the smart phone platform. A visualization stethoscope based on the smart phone isdesigned and developed, which includes the gathering, storage, playing, display, heart ratecompulation and auxiliary diagnosis of the heart sounds signal.In the view of the heart sounds signal characteristic, a simple discrimination-basedsegmentation method was proposed. This method uses the number of modes which compositethe signal waves to define the"heart sounds discrimination". Because S1 and S2 are made upof fewer modes as compared to the background noise and murmur, so their discrimination ismuch higher. Applied the heart sounds discrimination curve to identify the major heart soundscan avoided much difficulty caused by noise amplitude varied. At the same time, may also usethe heart sounds discrimination to extract the main features of heart sounds to identify thenormal and abnormal heart sounds.In the view of the limited software and hardware resources of the smart phone, thecomputational method of the heart sounds discrimination was made optimized improvementto further reduce the computation load. First, binaryzation processing was carried on to theheart sounds signal. Second, an appropriate window value was select. Last, the heart soundsdiscrimination was computed to localize the S1 and S2 heart sounds. This optimizedcomputational method reduces the computation load and the complexity, and is suitable torealize on the smart phone by programming. In the aspect of hardware, a device used to collect and transmit the heart sounds signal isdesigned for the smart phone platform. In the aspect of software, we programmed to realizethe storage, playing, displaying, heart rate compulation and auxiliary diagnosis of the heartsounds signal based on the Symbian OS platform. Ultimately, a visualization stethoscopebased on the S60 smart phone was successfully designed. This topic opens up a new directionwhich unifies the smart phone and the detection and processing of the heart sounds signal. Itmakes the auscultation universalizable, protable, direct-viewing, and achieves to look theheart sounds at any time and everywhere. It is an effective method to realize the promptdiagnosis of the heart system disease.
