Analysis And Application Of A Business Intelligence System

Business intelligence system has been applied in different fields extensively, such as telecommunications, banking, insurance, medical, retail and government, etc. The biggest benefit is that it provides most accurate and most timely information to help enterprises gain competitive advantage. COFCO's Bio-chemical & Bio-energy Division currently manages 12 biochemical energy manufacturing and sales companies, located in various regions.Most of these 12 companies are process manufacturers. As a management platform between headquarters and profit points, Bio-chemical & Bio-energy Division has its own characteristics in its operation and management model.This article attempts to investigate the application of business intelligence system on the manufacturing process industry based on practice of production and operation in our own company. By intensive interviews with senior managers, business units and, factory managers, and business executives, their own needs for information were understood and organized, the theme and dimensions of data mining was determined, and the accuracy and intelligibility of data mining was guaranteed. Based on the intergration of functional requirements, system technology requirements, network environment and other system requirements, suitable suppliers wwere selected and communicated with, the system structures, application platforms, and design strategies were determined, and the project was ensured to be implimented according to the plan. The system collected scattered and independent data and information of marketing, finance, human resources, production and reporting management, analysed these raw data "intelligently" and "automatically" with data mining theory and technology, solved the problem of forming isolated information islands from different business units in the process of information construction, and improved data integrity and data availability, in order to provide adequate, timely and accurate statistics, reports and other information, and let the management understand the overall operating conditions.With all kinds of supports and efforts, this system was fulfilled successfully, which met all design requirements and was approved by users.
