In recent years, Carrier-class Ethernet gains increasingly high importance from equipment manufacturers and operators, which is mainly due to the increasingly rich network applications, and the expanding needs of public and enterprise networks. Broadband and other new Internet and multimedia services has gradually become new profit points of carriers. Moreover, the implementation of business transformation by operators will at the same time inevitably bring about network transformation, of which aim is to achieve the refinement of operations. This goal requires network services to transform to a multi-service bearer carrying from the single-service bearer carrying. According to this situation carrier-class Ethernet appears in people's eyes. For a long time, one of the main reasons of restriction of the use of Ethernet in the telecommunications networks is at the reliability problems of traditional Ethernet in large-scale operations. We can not affect or as little as possible impact on the normal use and operation of network if the network has the ability of protection. Protection is a very core competency of carrier-class Ethernet, and it does so become a "carrier-class" technology. In this paper, there are three research directions:Comparing the current popular carrier-class Ethernet technology applications, including the description of application, technical characteristics, and the comparison of the pros and cons. Concluding G.8032 standards combined of carrier-class Ethernet OAM. Putting forward solutions of ERP's key technologies that are not currently addressed combination of carrier-class Ethernet OAM.This article is unique in that it compares a variety of carrier-class Ethernet technology, and brings forward unique technology solutions of many unresolved issues in G.8032. These technical solutions are perfect embodiment of the less than 50ms protection switching reliability of carrier-class Ethernet. In addition, the system summed up the problem-solving approaches which are certainly helpful for future research.
