With the development of Ethernet technologies,Ethernet becomes more and more popular,as its superiority of extendibility,low cost and a large number of network management and troubleshooting tools. Although Ethernet is the most widely used in LAN,it has the insufficiency of the poor reliability and the bad real-time.Therefore Ethernet must overcome the negative environmental impact,and solve the problem of the bandwidth,reliability,real-time and so on,if it is applied in the scene domain.The full-duplex exchange is widely used in industry Ethernet switch,and the network is divided into micro-network to increase bandwidth.In the side of the hardware design,industrial Ethernet Switch OB500 is able to adapt to non-fans-40℃to +85℃of the poor working environment whose chips are used in industrial-class devices.And wide voltage input designed,dual-redundant power supplied,anti-surge and other technologies enhance the reliability of switches.In the side of the software design,the status of switches is real-time monitored to ensure reliability.In this paper,typical of the ring network protection technologies are introduced and analyzed,such as STP/RSTP,RPR Resilient Packet Ring,RFC3619 protocol,G8032 ring network protocol.On this basis,this paper presents Ring protocol which suits self-healing ring network.For the further the Ring mechanisms,frame format,the node status and the implementation of modules are described in detail.Ring protocol that is easy,flexible and the short of fault recovery time enhances the real-time and reliability for Ethernet switch.Finally,the paper introduces the manageable switch,the real-time switch and fully redundant system simply.The development of the industrial Ethernet switch realizes greater real-time and reliability.
