At present, uniformity of measuring methods, difficulty in data acquisition, inefficiency of data processing and some other problems exist in the health status monitoring field of domestic civil engineering, thus health status monitoring techniques of civil engineering projects are studied in this paper.With some domestic ultra-long tunnel ventilation shaft as the study object, an advanced communication technology-based remote health status monitoring system of civil engineering projects is designed and implemented on the basis of the requirement analysis and research of civil engineering projects health status monitoring and the application of an approach with the combination of theories, tests and engineering verifications.First, a front end frequency measuring system with a CPLD and an embedded system as the core circuit is designed to realize the automated connection and measurement of multiple sensors. Second, according to practical project condition, a data transmission scheme with the integration of wireless and wired communications as well as the combination of a private network and a public network is selected. Data transmission from measuring nodes on the top of the shaft to the bottom is completed by wireless data transmission modules, data transmission from measuring nodes at the bottom of the shaft to relay nodes in the main tunnel is completed through a RS485 bus, and data transmission from relay nodes in the main tunnel to the office is completed through the GSM network, thus the remote health status monitoring of civil engineering projects is achieved.Finally, a program for the front end acquisition and the private network communication is designed in C language, and a background data monitoring management system is designed with Visual C++6.0 and Access 2003.Test results in practical projects reveal the stability of the system, the correctness of data acquisition and the satisfaction of expected requirement, showing great application value of this system. A national utility model patent for this research has been approved.
