Research On The VR Modeling Technology Of Truck Based On MultiGen Creator

With the development of economic and the increase of the transport volume, the demand of the heavy trucks is constantly rising. However, with the increase of freight vehicles, the rate of traffic accident were often very high, especially to heavy trucks, the accident would be very serious once it happened; so it is the major research how to improve the safety of heavy trucks. The traditional research method of vehicle performance mainly is real vehicle experiment. This method not only needs higher cost of experiments, longer experimental cycle; and it is also very hard to forecast the risk of experiment; so it can't meet the requirements of the vehicle's development. In recent years, with the development of computer technology, it is possible to use computer to simulate the vehicle performance. This method not only could save the cost, shorten the test time, also could avoid the risk of real vehicle experiment.Based on the virtual reality technology, this research use MultiGen Creator software established a series of truck models which could be used in vehicle's computer experiments. The main contents are as follows:1)Study the present status of vehicle's virtual experiment, and briefly introduced the virtual reality technology; analyzed the current stage of the axial structure of China's freight vehicle; established a dynamic model of vehicle and tire model.2) Study the basic skills of establishment models in Creator, solved the problems which appeared in the modeling. Especially study the technologies of LODS,DOF and texture mapping which are the key technologies to improve the model fidelity.3)To improve the immersion in real-time systems, add some special effects such as: light,sound,in the models. And also build tachometer and speedometer.4) Used a series of model simulation optimization techniques to improve the system's real-time, and set up truck model library, so in the future of virtual experiments can directly call these models.
