Vehicle Travelling Data Recorder is a digital electronic device, which can record and store vehicle speed, real time, mileage and vehicle's other status information. According to the operations, software analyzes the state datas of vehicle to provide scientific and authoritative basis. Traffic recorder can also play a curb to prevent fatigue driving and speeding role.The research and development of Vehicle Travelling Data Recorder at home and abroad has been no less than ten years. After 1990's, with the fact of science and technology development and increasing popularity of car market, many research institutes and manufacturers had started research of Vehicle Travelling Data Recorder and produced a variety of products. In order to strengthen the norms,"Vehicle Travelling Data Recorder"GB/T 19056-2003 standard had promulgated on April 15, 2003, and it had been put into effect since September 1, 2003. It should be said, the research of practical and standardized "vehicle traveling data recorder" thus began.The host of Vehicle Travelling Data Recorder is researched in this thesis, and combined with ZigBee network technology to build routing protocol which designed for the corresponding network.The background, significance and research status of Vehicle Travelling Data Recorder are researched in the thesis. The ZigBee network technology and IEEE802.15.4 agreement are analyzed.Hardware framework, network programs and monitoring system are introduced in this paper. Hardware units are composed of data collection, storage, real-time clock data communication and others.The design of real-time clock, speed mileage and other data acquisition is expatiated in details. The design of data storage and the methods of data communication is expatiated in details. The underlying driver and corresponding processing chart of software design is described.System network routing algorithm and node localization algorithm are researched, and simulation results are analyzed. Finally, a summary and outlook paper summarizes the results achieved in the development proposed in this design needs improvement.
