Vehicle traveling data recorder is a electronic recording device which can record and srore the vehicle speed, distance, time and other state information, display data through data output interface, and analyze data.The EU is the world's first and largest mandatory which issues laws and regulations to push the implementation of the recorder. In the European Union, the usage of recorders has a clear legal basis, embarked on a systematic road, and it has been proved that it played a major role in reducing traffic accidents. Combined with China's national conditions, car ownership grows rapidly, city planning and transport policy lag behind, traffic accident rate significantly increases, so, solving the traffic problem is of great urgency. In view of the traffic safety management of China, we must implement the usage of recorder to reduce and curb traffic accidents fundamentally.In this paper, a complete set of vehicle traveling data recorder based on the micro-controller ARM STM32F103 is designed. Main functions of this recorder include:driver's identity record, which is in charge of recording drivers license ID code and driver code; vehicle speed and mileage measurement, recording and storage; real time collection, recording and storage; data display function, which is in charge of diplaying data such as vehicle characteristics on the screen; data communication function, through the serial port, USB port or Ethernet interface to complete the data upload and download between recorder and PC.The main tasks of this paper include hardware and software design of communication sub-modules and data analysis software design on the upper computer. Communications sub-modules include CAN communication module, RS232 serial communication module, USB interface communication module and ethernet interface communication module. CAN communication module is responsible for the communication among other electronic control units in motor vehicles, and, RS232 interface, USB interface and ethernet interface are responsible for the communication between recorder and the upper computer.Compared with present widely used recorders, the recorder in this paper, whose controller has strong anti-interference, CAN controller, USB controller and serial interface, simplifying the hardware design; which is equipped with ethernet interface, so data transmission is more convenient; high speed RS232 transceiver is choosed, superior than low-speed data transmission; whose data analysis software on the upper computer is based on the LabVIEW8.5, which use VISA library, file I/O function, and powerful string manipulation functions to precisely analyze the data luploaded from the recorder, after data analysis and decipher, use the graphics display activex and character string activex to display the speed waveform and other parameters. After hardware debugging, software program debugging of the recorder, and final data analysis on the upper computer, the process of the automobile driving will be reappeared.
