With the reform and opening up of our country, the national economy has developed rapidly and it has obtained the considerable development, but the phenomenon of environmental contamination becomes more and more serious. Water environment is also facing great challenges, protection of water resources is related to the development of modern agriculture and industry and people's health. Water quality monitoring has become a major issue worldwide. People are increasingly concerned about the research and development of on-line water quality monitoring system. At present, water data is mainly collected manually. As the result of the long time of sampling interval, it is difficult to monitor the process of water quality changes continuously, and there is a big limitation in the actual using process.Wireless Sensor Network is a wireless self-organized distributed network system, which is arrayed a mass of tiny sensor nodes that have sensation ability, computation ability and traffic capacity in the monitored area by a rule or random way. The WSN combines computer technology, communication technology and sensor technology, and bases on the center data processing system. It could collect all kinds of data informations in environment, then process and transmit them to the manager. Therefore, the WSN is adapted for the water monitoring system.Wireless sensor network can be deployed quickly and flexible, and is also low cost. It overcomes the shortcomings such as subjectivity, small monitoring range, and the difficulties to deal with water pollution incident. It could provide faster real-time response, and shorten the dissemination cycle of information, and realize data sharing. Therefore, the wireless sensor networks are suitable for water quality monitoring system.According to the basic theory of wireless sensor network, this paper designs an on-line water quality monitoring system, which contains data acquisition, data transmission, forecast analysis and information display. The paper focuses on the research of wireless sensor network nodes deployment optimization algorithms. The paper applies a k-covered algorithm based on cellularnetwork, which solves the problem of the network deployment of redundant nodes. The virtual force algorithm solves the network deployment of mobile nodes. The target area can get the data information fully and correctly.In addition, based on the study and analysis of the relevant wireless transmission technology, storage technology and sensing technology, this paper designs the low-power extensible wireless sensor network node. It has a deep analysis of the pollutant diffusion model, network programming technology and database technology, and designs the WEB-based software management system. The system realizes the real-time data acquisition, data processing and data release of the water quality, and makes evaluation and prediction for water quality, which provides the scientific basis for decision making.The system designed provides a certain technological approaches to research and practical application of water quality monitoring.
