Research On Resource Organization Based On Ontology Of Subject Information Gateway

The rapid development of information and network technology enable the Internet—the ever-expanding"data reposity"—to be the main acess to information and media of information exchanging. However, the frequent updating of information, the different quality of information and the cross-mixing of information bring great inconvenience to users, especially to persons who engage in academic research. They need a platform that can provide filtered and organized resource for its specialized field. Subject information gateway meets this demand in a certain extent. For a good subject information gateway, high-quality information resource is not enough. The resource is also need to be processed and efficient organized in order to make sure that it can be found quickly and accurately. Therefore, the resource organization of the subject information gateway is a key link that can not be ignored in the building. However, the existing resource organization of subject information gateway is lack of standardization and humanity. It doesn't consider the characteristics of itself and the actual situation. It also doesn't fully consider the user's browsing and retrieval needs.This paper will introduce the knowledge organization method based on ontology into the resource organization of subject information gateway. First, it build an application ontology that meets the need of the resource organization of subject information gateway. Then it constructs the corresponding query and inference rules based on the ontology. It try to raise the rates of accuracy and full in retrieval through the semantic, diversity and reasoning nature of the ontology. The purpose is to improve the quality of subject information gateway and provide users with a more rational and humane academic information retrieval platform. The main content of this paper includes as follows.The paper explore the need of resource organization of subject information gateway through the analysis of the existing resource organization and the need of users. It introduces the knowledge organization method based on ontology into the resource organization of subject information gateway and describes the function which the ontology must have according to the resource organization requirements.The paper takes the field of management for example. In the application ontology, there have three classes. One is based on the"Management Science Thesaurus", the other two are keyword class and resource type class. The resouce can be deeply revealed through the relations between the three classes. In the paper, the editing of the application ontology is by the Protege3.3.1.The paper constructs some corresponding query and inference rules by SPARQL based on the appliction ontology building in this paper. In the system building on the eclipse platform, it achieves the expected retrieval and reasoning which is semantic matched using the rules by Jena. And it confirms that it is possible for users to find and use resource from multi-angle and multi-channel.
