The use of streaming media is one of the prevailing applications of today's Internet. This paper aims at building a new streaming media teaching system, fit for the characteristics of school net, on the basis of the P2P model, which has been introduced into the streaming media services, makes the best use of net-width and directly relieves the burden of server ends to support a wider scale of streaming media distribution, thus indicating a broad application prospect in the field of network teaching. This paper analyzes and compares today's popular P2P streaming media broadcasting models, and speculates a mix-structured model-PSMES, which combines the tree-model's advantage of simplicity and easy-controlling with the net-model's features of stability and short system delay. The system consists of data-originated servers, managerial spots and common spots, the former two of which comprise the tree-structure while the latter two comprise the net-structure. Using the method of layer-division, this paper designs the multi-layer frame of a system, and each layer matches different functional modular, describes the system's critical calculation method and is responsible for every modular's design and operation, thus comprehensively describing the whole operation process of the system. The long term test of the new system to the school net shows that it can save dozens of milliseconds concerning the delay between two ends, and save over a dozen of milliseconds concerning the absolute delay of data broadcast. With the increase of spot number, this new system enjoys two striking advantages: spots'shorter average initial log-in time and shorter average data broadcasting length than Peercast. Therefore, the results of the test demonstrates the new system's higher stability, shorter data broadcast delay and less occupation of bandwidth, all of which achieve a better balance between respective features and functions and live up to the requirement of design.
