The Research Of Distribution And Utilization Of Digital Resources In Shanghai Academic Libraries

Academic library is an important institute to provide information services. The construction of digital resources has been gradually put on the agenda of university digital library. With the development of colleges and universities, the construction of colleges and university library digital resources places a direct impact on the teaching and research progress of all colleges and universities. As colleges and universities begin to strengthen the awareness of digital resources construction, a large number of libraries of colleges and universities have begun to enhance the construction of academic digital resources. However, in the current process of construction, the construction of digital resources is usually redundant, in low efficiency, and hard to share. In this background, this thesis has conducted a comprehensive survey about the distribution and utilization of digital resources of the universities and colleges in Shanghai, sums up the features and existed problems in the distribution and utilization of digital resources of the universities and colleges in Shanghai, and puts forward the relevant solutions and approaches to these problems.The first chapter of the thesis summarizes the library consortium construction in the world, domestic research on digital resources construction, including the preservation of digital resources, the integration of digital resources, digital resources sharing, the usage of digital resources, the evaluation of digital resources, and the copyright issues about digital resources. Besides, this chapter has described the main research contents in detail, the research methods and innovations of this paper.The second chapter of this thesis summarizes the basic concepts in the construction of digital resources. Firstly, this chapter introduces the basic concepts of digital resources, then analyzes the various types of digital resources from different perspectives, finally summarizes the typical characteristics.This part has conducted the survey of the distribution and utilization of all academic libraries in Shanghai, especially a detailed study of the distribution of digital resources in different type of academic libraries, and the distribution of various types of digital resources. Moreover, this thesis has researched about the construction of self-built characteristic databases in each academic library in Shanghai, and the distribution of the subject guide in library. In addition, this chapter has described the further investigation about the utilization of the Chinese and foreign language databases in library.The third chapter further explores the current characteristics of the construction of digital resources, and some existed inadequacies on the basis of actual researchThe forth chapter puts forward the solutions and approaches according to the existed problems in the distribution and utilization of digital resources of academic libraries in Shanghai.Last but not least, the fifth chapter summarizes the main research contents in this paper, and points out the further research in the coming future.
