The hot rolling finishing line was the equiment imported in the 1980s from Germany. The shortages of the system were discovered constantly with the time going by. The reclaim of the system is urgent in order to satisfy the production requirement.The background of the thesis is the hot rolling finishing line. The thesis aimed at reclaiming and optimizing the system based on the research of key equipments. Firstly, we changd the control mode of the pinch roll and brought in speed match and droop to optimize the tension system; Secondly, we analyzed the mechanism of tension and established the tension model; At last, we analyzed the loss of speed synchronization. We made full advantage of 6RA70 DC Drive Unit by speed adjustment and parameter optimization and have solved the loss of speed synchronization while accelerating or decelerating process between equipments of entire slitter line.The tension must be kept stable between leveller and disk shearer in order to maintain product quality and stability of the production process. The tension system is nonlinear and variational. So a novel PID self-tuning controller by fuzzy adaptive mechanism for the tension control was presented after the research of tension system. Fuzzy PID control is one of intelligence control methods without relying on accurate mathematical model of the control object. It can overcome nonlinear disturbance and has better robusticity. But the traditional PID control depends on people's experience and frondose model and the performance is affected by parameter transformation. We made use of online rules self-regulation control arithmetic and adopted fuzzy PID control method to get high performance of the control system in order to improve all parameters effectually according to the performance of the control system, which can achieve satisfied control result.At last, the simulation based on MATLAB of this control algorithm was conducted to study the effect compared with traditional PID controller. The comparative study shows that the overshoot and the fluctuation of tension decrease considerably.
