Tension control is an extremely important link in packing service, printing and paper making industry. Good tension control ensures the high quality of the products and improves production efficiency. Paper focuses on tension control in the winding and paper drive process for the model JHS-F1000MC slitter.Paper focuses on the issues of system design, modeling and simulation, system implementation for the slitting machine tension control system. The slitting machine tension control system includes three subsystems:unwinding, slitting and rewinding; unwinding subsystem takes magnetic particle brake as its executive body, and the others all take DC motors and its drives as their executive body. Paper designs the system overall program, mainly based on the composition and its requirements. It starts from the two main mechanisms:the principle of dynamic torque balance and Hooke’s law, analyzes the interaction between tension and velocity and the relations of all parts of the multivariable tension system, and establishes the relations of the whole tension system in the construction graph. Based on the system construction graph, it establishes the common components’mathematical model in the system. From its mathematical model, it can be drawn that the system is a time-variant, nonlinear, strong cross-coupling multi-variables control system. For this reason, paper puts forward fuzzy parameter self adjustment control algorithm based on Smith predictor, and the MIMO simulation model were established in the SIMULINK environment for the slitting machine tension control system. The simulation results show that tension control system, based on Smith-fuzzy parameter self adjustment control algorithm, has a strong adaptive ability and good dynamic performance. Finally, paper focuses on the issues of system implementation.
