The rapid development in science technology, especially in information technology, has triggered off new military revolution. As the form and running rule of war has changed greatly, the traditional research method of war is difficult to meet the requirement of information age. The warfare simulation system based on the modern information, with the core of SoS (System of System) confrontation, becomes an important method for analyzing information warfare. Military communication network model, which is the basic support platform of warfare simulation system, is the foundation of information transmission and communication among warfare entities, and it is also the key of SoS confrontation simulation. Therefore, the research on military communication network modeling in warfare simulation system has great theoretic significance and application value.Towards the problems in modeling military communication network in warfare simulation system, this paper studies thoroughly in network model and the invulnerability of its topology. The main contributions of this paper are listed as follows:(1) the problems in modeling military communication network in warfare simulation system are analyzed. At first, the state of art of military communication network modeling in warfare simulation system is analyzed, afterward, based on an example of combat scenario in the case of information communication confrontation, the ability for military communication network model in warfare simulation system is proposed. Furthermore, the existed problem in the military communication network modeling is also studied from aspects of network model and invulnerability.(2) The military communication network model in warfare simulation system is firstly established. the model structure of military communication network is investigated as viewed from network system model, communication node model and message process model. Network system model mainly consists of topology structure model and network protocol model. The type, state, FOV (Field Of View) and resolving power model of the node is constructed by communication node model, whereas the message is modeled by message process model, as well as the introduction of the modeling running procedure, message queue model and message protocol model.(3) The invulnerability measurement of military communication network is proposed, and according to the measurement, the optimization method is also introduced. Network connectivity measurement– pertinacious connectivity is introduced, and it is also compared with other connectivity measurements, four network invulnerability measurements based on pertinacious connectivity are further defined. The attack mode with incomplete information condition is constructed based on the existed attack method against military communication network. Finally, an optimization method of network topology is proposed, and the difference of node invulnerability before and after optimization is compared through instance analysis.(4)At last, the above research is analyzed and validated by a scenario example with background of air defence system.
