Airfield light system plays an important role in guaranteeing the safety of the airplane when taking off, landing and sliding at night or under low visibility operational level which is closely related with the safety of aircraft. In this paper, we propose airfield lighting surveillance and control system based on the wireless sensor networks, in which WSNs node is responsible for monitoring the state of the airfield light and the work of light. It proposes the"sliding light segment"guiding the aero plane on the apron which improves efficiency of the airport.In this paper, the main content and innovations as follows:(1) This thesis presents wireless sensor networks for surveillance and control airfield lights. Airfield lighting system's reliability is closely related with safety of aero plane. In this thesis, we propose airfield lighting surveillance and control system based on the wireless sensor networks, in which WSNs node is responsible for monitoring the state of the airfield light and the work of light; the node also sends message to the monitoring centre; The new method not only improves the efficiency of airport operations, but also greatly reduces the workload of the airport, reducing the power consumption and prolonging the lifetime of lights, thereby reducing the airport's operating costs.(2)"Sliding light segment"is proposed for guiding the airplane. Usually, Air traffic control tower assigns a car to guild the airplane, but it can lead to a lot of problems such as traffic accident, and reduces air traffic to some extent. The"sliding light segment"which is designed according the speed and the location of the airplane can guild the airplanes; it reduces cars in the airport and accelerates the speed of airplane away from the Taxiway.(3) The WSNs node for surveillance and control airfield lighting is designed. The node is the core of the networks, its function as follows: lighting control, monitoring the airfield lights and sending the fault message to monitoring centre. It is designed According to the tasks and work environment.(4) A novel Routing Protocol for reporting the light fault is proposed. Communication plays a great role in WSNs. We put forward the LCS-PEGASIS Routing Protocol upon the topology of networks, which ensures the airfield light's fault message can be sent to monitoring centre successfully.
