With our society develops rapidly, the number of cars and other vehicles rises sharply, then the traditional vehicle management services are unable to meet the needs of modern traffic any more, vehicle monitoring and management system has become a hot research at home and abroad. This system is the integration of the three advanced technologies-GIS, GPS and wireless communications. It not only offers modern means for the mobile terminal control, scheduling, and security management, but also plays an important role in improving the traffic capacity of roads and releasing traffic pressure.To meet the needs of the supported project, this paper designs a whole framework of vehicle monitoring system based-on GPRS, which includes such four parts as car terminal hardware and software design, wireless design, server and client software. Among them, design and implementation of the server software part is the research focus of this article. Specifically, this paper includes the following aspects:1. To meet the functional requirements of the system, this paper establishes the overall framework of the server software. Server software can be divided into three main units, data communications agency, GPS monitoring platform and database services. On this basis, the idea of modular and hierarchical are used during the server software and its sub-unit design.2. Based on the modular design idea, the software architecture of data communication proxy is determined. Data communications proxy is not only the system unit's communications hub, also is a system of logical processing center. Taking the characteristics of GPRS and the Internet into account, then design and comply reliable and scalable data communication mode and data communication protocols. Meanwhile, the way how proxy and GPS monitoring platform exchange information is discussed. Finally, we discuss the data processing unit and the shared data structures within the module design and implementation.3. Focus on the design and implementation of GPS monitoring platform's monitoring function. GPS monitoring platform is the customer service center. Firstly, the principal of Web-GIS based on the third-party map engine is researched; secondly, for the B/S model defect potential problems, focus on the methods of realization communication of the real-time between browser, and server; finally depend on technologies of the third-party map engine and the real-time communication between the client and server, GPS monitoring platform is established by B/S mode.4. Research the System of Database. This paper discusses the concept of the database model and implements the database design. At the same time, uses the specific strategies to solve the issue of database caused by the rapid expansion of GPS information. Also proposes to optimize database performance measures and recommendations. Finally, discusses the design of a stored procedure to optimize the program structure and system performance.5. Studying intelligent vehicle monitoring system preliminarily. For the higher application requirements of Vehicle monitoring and management system, proposes the issue of raised interesting model. And on this basis, discusses each type of modeling method and application of interesting mode. At last fully uses the historical trajectory vehicle positioning information to build solution and algorithms to each type of problem.
