As one of the most advanced automatic identification technology, RFID technology got rapid development recently. It has several advantages such as long identification distance, speedy identification, highly identification accuracy, multi-target identification, moving target identification, high anti-jam ability, non-contact operation and relatively long life. RFID technology has been widely used in production, logistics, transport, medical, security, tracking, equipment and asset management and other fields.RFID Middleware is between reader layer and application layer. Its function is to shield different readers and labels, and to provide a uniform interface for the application layer. In addition, RFID middleware is also responsible for integrating and filtering data, creating reports, reducing the processing burden on the application layer. RFID Middleware makes it possible to transfer and use a large amount of tag data.There are many widely-used RFID middleware products. However, these systems can't be run on embedded system. Embedded RFID middleware has more excellent properties then normal RFID middleware, such as low cost, adaptability, can be directly deployed to the readers. It can be utilized more widely. Our goal is to complete an embedded RFID middleware which can run under ARM-Linux.Based on that purpose, the main research topics of the paper are: analysis EPC RFID middleware standards; design an embedded RFID middleware; research EPC data processing in our embedded RFID middleware; test our embedded RFID middleware's functions using software engineering methods.The results show that the embedded RFID middleware have met the EPC ALE standard's requirements. It can read and identify tag data easily and have capabilities to smooth, filter, group and storage tag data. After processing by RFID middleware, tag data can be easily transmitted to the client.The RFID middleware accomplished via GNU C totally,so it can be easily transplanted to embedded systems. It has some practical value which can meet general business application's requirements. The design of embedded RFID middleware can provide some reference for other RFID middleware and embedded systems.
