Design And Implementation Of Forward Module In FCF Switches

The goal product of FCoE project is FCF (FCoE Forwarder) switches. FCF switches is Ethernet switches which can be used as FC switches. It can be seen as a FC switches and support all the functions of FC switches, therefore, FCF switches and FC switches can compose a SAN network. Meanwhile, FCF switches support Ethernet interface which with FCoE ability and FCoE protocol, it can realize the connection with FCF switches through the Ethernet Interface, and can access the node with FCoE ability to the SAN network. FCF switches can also access a server to the LAN network and the SAN network, achieving the purpose of I/O integration.Forward module is one of the basic modules of FCoE project, its main functions include receiving and forwarding packet and the Maintaining Forward table. Routing module will produce Forward table after routing calculation and optimization. At present, the routing module has not yet realized, Forward table can be maintained by command. This article will be achieved to add, delete forwarding entries, and search and display functions of forwarding entries. After receiving packets, forward module will check out the interface of packets based on destination address, and according to the interface to send or forward packets.After receiving packets, switches will send packets to link layer. The link layer will transmit packets to forward module. Forwarding packet or actively send packet will be through the link layer sent.This paper will realize link layer packet transceiver. FCF switches can bundle multiple FC links into a bundled FC link to increase the link bandwidth, FC bundled port is a logical port. FC bundled port as the output interface of forwarding items, if there are members of the FC bundled port selected, can receive and send packets.This article will realize the maintenance of FC bundled port's link layer, including FC bundled port's create/delete, the members of FC bundled port's join/leave.At the same time, In this paper, also can achieve debug switch's open and close and switch display function. When the debug switch is open, you can output debugging information. Debugging information is mainly for the convenience of developers and testers to find and locate the problem.
