The Research Of Storage Network Management System Based On Strage Area Network

Now, the Storage Area Network (SAN) is one of the mainstream storage technologies. The SAN has many outstanding characteristics: high speed, high availability, high expansibility, cross-platform sharing, remote virtual storage and low TCO, etc. It provides a genuine solution for the concentrative storing and management of the vast data. The data storage system of most large enterprises uses the SAN.The computing environment of large enterprises usually is made up of mainframe system and Windows server and UNIX server. Through sharing file between mainframe system and open system (Windows and UNIX), these heterogeneous systems can realize unseaming integration basd on data and mutual operating basd on file system. It has great significance for combining of storage resources and taking a good advantage of the abundant application programs having existed on mainframe system and reducing the cost of data storing.Therefore, the Author made a research of the cross-platform file sharing based on SAN, and participated in designing and realizing a kind of file sharing middleware based on SAN - FSMiddleware(File Share Middleware). The FSMiddleware realizes the cross-platform file sharing between mainframe system and open system (Windows and UNIX). It provides a group of APIs which can be called by application programs for accessing files and commands for users to operate on files.The FSMiddleware has many outstanding characteristics: record file share/exclusion control, huge storage capacity, high-speed data access, high availability , high reliability and high flexibility, etc.
