The research on digital television is becoming one of the most important areas in high technology research fields because of its huge potential market and economic profit. As a necessary debug tool in the application of DTV, monitor device will be broadly applied to device manufacture, network installation, monitor of service running status and so on. So it is necessary to research and develop DTV monitor device.The features of transport stream and the main functions of the monitoring system are introduced in this paper. Eight parts of the monitoring system are presented in detail, includes elementary information, the analysis of EPG, the monitoring of TR101 290, program information, bandwidth information, video/audio, multiplexing structure and the analysis of PCR. The meanings and functions of all PSI/SI tables are being analyzed in detail. Three proprities of TR101 290 are presented, as well as their position in the stream. The analysis of buffer in the third priority is complicated.The developing of the software is based on Windows platform, using Visual C++. During this process, the things that need monitoring are put into the functions of PSI/SI and video/audio. The conception of PID filter is quoted. Multithreading is also used to enhance the efficiency of the software. Software algorithm and function implementation is improved continuously. The system can analyze offline transport stream correctly.
