As emerging identification technology, RFID is taking place of barcode depending on its own advantages, and is playing a more and more important role in application. With the popularity of RFID applications to various areas, it is need to be existed a serious of higher standards of RF, protocol, so that its performance can be certified testing. In order to improve testing efficiency, accuracy of test results and eliminating the influence of human error, the best way is build an advanced automatic test environment for RFID, and provide a platform for RFID RF testing. The platform can also give a hand to build the national standards.This paper introduces international and domestic current status of RFID standards, and generalizes a series of test items according to the standards. Based on these test items, this paper build up an automatic RFID reader test system of RF, protocol testing, and then shows the test results of test system at the end part.The standard which this system based on is intern requirements of China Radio and ISO/IEC 18000-6C. This paper first tells the test items and the meanings of these items, and then shows test method of these items with Tektronix 3408A. After that, this paper analyzes the need of test system, researching on the architecture of test system and concludes GPIB bus construction. Software environment of test system is Visual Studil.Net and C# programming, and we use Access and XML as database of this test system.The test platform consists of automatic test software, industrial PC (IPC), GPIB controller, test environment, and testing instruments. Test engineer use automatic test software installed in IPC to control the instrument for testing, and completing data acquisition, processing and displaying test results, and finally generating the test reports. The management of instruments status and test results or any other related information of EUT can also be carried out by combining with the background database.The automatic test platform given by this paper can efficiently verify RFID devices which are used in different frequency bands. According to the test result, system has good accuracy. This test system totally achieves the automatism of RFID test, and saves large amount of testing time.
